Fundraise for Us

Our charity can only continue to improve the lives of brain injury survivors thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

We don’t like to ask, but it is becoming increasingly challenging to raise the funds we need to keep providing our vital services each year. If you are in the fortunate position to make a donation we would be thankful.

Alternatively, would you be able to take on a personal challenge or hold an event to raise funds for us?

Or perhaps you could ask for donations instead of presents for Xmas, your birthday or other special occasion?

Maybe you could encourage your employer to make us their charity of the year and work with us in partnership?

Or, you could leave a legacy with a gift in your will.

However you choose to support us, you can be assured that your kindness will make a lasting difference to people living through the trauma of acquired brain injury.

If you would like to get involved and can help us in some way, please get in touch with us.

Sponsored events

Sponsored swims, silences, walks and sports tournaments can be a great way to raise vital funds for local people with brain injuries. To sign up for an opportunity, find out more, or talk about your ideas, email enquiries@headwayplymouth.org.uk or call us on 01752 550559.

Walks, treks and cycles

What better way to raise money for local people with brain injuries than taking part in an exciting rewarding charity challenge? Thanks to our partners at Discover Adventure, Headway Devon are able to offer an extensive range of challenges including walks around the UK; treks to international destinations including Machu Picchu, the Great Wall of China and Mount Kilimanjaro; and cycle rides both at home and abroad.  For a full list of our treks, cycles and challenges, please visit Discover Adventure’s website here.

Collecting sponsorship is easy with Givestar

Anyone looking for an easier way to collect sponsorship money should go to Givestar where it is easy to set up a secure, free, online sponsorship page. If you are planning to take part in a sponsored event in aid of Headway Devon, set one of these pages up – it will increase the amount of money you can raise for us. Best of all, Gift Aid is added to your donors’ contributions automatically. Please note, there are several Headway charities up and down the country so if you’d like to make sure that your fundraising stays here in Plymouth then please be sure to select “Headway Plymouth” as your charity. Thank you.

Organise your own fundraising event!

Amongst the most popular events to organise are pub quizzes, coffee mornings and fashion shows, but the possibilities are endless. Our fundraising team are on-hand to provide support and advice as you organise your event, but the most important thing to remember is that if you enjoy organising it, it’s much more likely that people will enjoy attending it.

A word about Gift Aid

If you are undertaking a sponsored event or carrying out a collection at an event, then it may be the case that some donations are eligible for Gift Aid. Gift Aid is a government scheme that means charities can reclaim 25% of the amount of a donation back from HMRC. If you or your supporters intend to Gift Aid any donations, please take a moment to read and ensure you understand our

Legacies

Every year we are contacted by more and more people who have been left facing disabilities as result of brain injury, and we are always striving to grow our services and reach more of the people who need us.

If, once you’ve taken care of family and friends, you would like to leave a gift in your will to Headway Devon this would be very gratefully received and would help us to provide a brighter future for local people in need.

There are several different ways to leave a legacy in your will – it can be a fixed amount of money, a percentage of your estate or a specified item.

We’ve partnered with (insert) to provide all our supporters with the opportunity to make their own fully comprehensive Will for free. You can make your personalised Will online in three simple steps, from the comfort of your own home and with live support from their Will specialists.

All legacies of any amount are appreciated and really can make a difference to the lives of people struggling with the effects of brain injury and we are hugely grateful to you for thinking of us at this time.

If you are thinking of leaving a gift to Headway Devon and would like to find out more, or if you have already pledged a gift, then we would love to hear from you. Holly, our Fundraising Manager, can be contacted by calling 01392 211822 or emailing holly@headwaydevon.org.uk.
