A Long Letter from Louise – the August Blog

Our client, Louise, has done a great job of catching up on her blog by working so hard to produce her own summary of her activities in August:

29th July

The kitchen at Headway has been ripped out and new appliances etc ordered, some of which will be adaptable for people in wheelchairs and those who want to sit down.  When the plumbing etc has been done, we’re all looking forward to having better space, worktops, storage facilities and gadgets to use.  This will be the first time in over 25 years that the kitchen has had a full-makeover – hurrah!!

5th August

Today Jo put the clients the clients to the test with her so-called ‘really easy’ quiz, which was anything but easy!!  I think that most of us struggled to answer the questions – well, I did anyway, but I sure that a few brain boxes figured out the answers.  I don’t know about you, but I love quizzes, even if I don’t do well at them, as you more than likely learn something from them anyway.

8th August

Mindful Art with Emma is one of the activities that I look forward to.  Today we made magic puffy paper art drawings and I decided to do a flower picture, which turned out quite well, in my opinion anyway.

12th August

We wrote some Thank you cards to various new foundations, who have helped to fund Headway Plymouth in recent weeks.  Their contributions are greatly appreciated, as Headway would otherwise struggle to provide the current services available, such as Hospital Liaison , as well as the activities both inside and outside of the Centre.

15th August

Megan, our sports therapist, graced us with her presence today and got us all sweating in a relatively non-taxing way.

19th August

Archaeologist Mallory Haas, from Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, took the majority of the session at Headway today, with a talk about the various archeological items discovered at Mount Edgcumbe. The Barn Pool Dig and Shoreline Secrets event is open to the public, and aims to educate people with new skills, take part in excavations and hear talks about local history with the SHIPS Project, among other things.  I found her talk to be interesting and informative.

22nd August

Louise from Stitch and Splodge paid us a visit today.  She brought canvases and plenty of buttons to make your own designs with.  I’m not a particularly creative person unfortunately, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s the taking part that counts and you learn something new at the same time.

29th August

We thought that there would be an outing to Mount Edgcumbe today, but it was cancelled due to a yellow weather warning, which was a shame.  However, as a consolation prize, Craig ordered pizza in and, altogether, we ate five pizzas.  I also played Scrabble and some pool (I beat Brian for once at pool so I was ecstatic)!

I’ve also managed to finally catch-up with finishing the blogs, so I’m relieved!
